Driven by booming AI development, computing centers adopt 800 V high‑voltage DC (HVDC) systems based on solid‑state transformers (SST), replacing traditional 400 V AC power distribution to meet high‑density GPU cabinet power demands. Running in unearthed IT mode, the 800 V DC system conceals severe safety risks. A single earth fault can go unnoticed during normal operation, while a second earth fault creates an immediate short‑circuit loop, possibly resulting in equipment fire, shutdown and large‑scale computing outages. Standard T/CMEEEA 261‑2026 mandates online insulation monitoring for these 800 V DC installations. The Acrel AIM‑T500L DC insulation monitoring device is developed for this scenario. Using the signal‑injection detection method, it applies to unearthed DC 0‑800 V and AC 0‑690 V systems. It continuously monitors positive‑ and negative‑bus‑to‑earth insulation resistance and activates pre‑warning and alarm outputs below configured thresholds. Paired with the ASG200 test signal generator, AIL200‑12 fault locator and supporting signal detectors, the complete system can accurately locate faulty feeder branches. Mounted inside SST or 800 V DC output cabinets, the AIM‑T500L works for both energized and de‑energized buses throughout the equipment lifecycle. Monitoring data is transmitted to superior controllers and O&M platforms for remote early warning and traceability. Its compact DIN‑rail design with pluggable terminals enables easy cabinet integration. This solution has been implemented in multiple domestic internet and telecom operator data‑center projects. With 800 V HVDC becoming standard AI infrastructure, insulation monitoring is no longer optional but mandatory safety equipment. The AIM‑T500L forms a reliable safety barrier for unearthed DC networks, mitigates double‑earth‑fault hazards and ensures stable operation for large‑scale AI computing facilities.
